Richmond Doula Project's Ancient Song Doula Training

Ancient Song Doula Services offers quality Doula Services to Women of Color and Low Income Families who otherwise would not be able to afford Doula Care in Brooklyn, NY.

Ancient Song also offers full-spectrum doula training — a training focused on the "whole" person and experience, seeing birth as a human right. It tackles hard issues like sexual trauma, domestic violence, discrimination, advocacy, cultural competence and more... It focuses on women of color, low income areas,  undocumented persons, and those families who want the best quality care by advocating and making informed decisions about their care.

Through grassroots fundraising (thank you again to those who donated to my participation!) Ancient Song Doula Services came to Richmond this June and trained 18 doulas with the Richmond Doula Project.

What's the Richmond Doula Project? We're a POC and LGBTQ-centered collective of doulas seeking to offer free doula support through all pregnancy outcomes to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it in Richmond. We're in early organizing stages right now; this training was one of our first solid steps toward equipping our group with the skills necessary to provide this support. I look forward to sharing much more about this project in the near future!
